 Hey Holly, I recently (as of about 5 minutes ago) learned that my father is American also. He was born in New York City same as his mother. So... I'm more than 1/4ths American! I'm like half! I can't believe that!! I always thought he was Canadian but no. He is from the USA. That makes me feel more connected to my American lovelies. :)

Someone out there has put up the 1940 census!! Someone quite possibly related to me even!! This is amazing!!

In other news, I think I have finally got Ultra Sun + Moon downloaded onto my 3DS, if they work, is another kettlef of fish... I will check it out and tell you tomorrow if they work. Ha! If they do, I'll do an update tonight! I'm sure they will. See, my 3DS is jailbroken, and I get my games here and here but lately the  hShop one isn't working right. So, I just download from the Ghost eShop. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. :D

Tomorrow we are having banana pancakes for breakfast! Yum!!

As far as I'm concerned, no one gets to choose their ancestry (although I do think it's good knowing where your ancestors originated) or country of birth, so I think it's somewhat foolish to be proud of things like that, let alone patriotic.

But banana pancakes definitely sound delicious.

I have that on your tree already! And there's two census records and a baptism I added, and grandparent names. However, because there is no recent confirmed info for your father it's difficult to know for certain if the person identified is actually correct. The problem is that there are several different name spelling of his surname for people born in New York around the time of is birth. What's needed is his marriage record which might have his parent's names on - that would aid identification. I can't find anything on the link you gave me, unfortunately. I might have another look at it today.

I really wonder about my dad as well, why he behaves like such an imbecile around his own family but dignified and professional around his friends and other professionals. I suspect dissociative identity disorder.

I forgot to mention that I found loads about your great uncle Joe (who died in WW2 on a bombing raid). I have all his military details where he died (crashed into the sea) and there's two newspaper articles and the picture of him.
